The HR's are a much better product - no fact to back that up tho. Just that I like German engineering. $1000 is an o.k. deal. $800-$900 would be even better.
Just for daily driving?

Get the HRs!!! New tires and an aggressive alignment really help too. Oh, and swaybars and ALK, and Ball Joint Extenders, and, and, and....<grin>
Good luck!

ball joint extenders?
are you talkin about the threaded arms that come off the steering rack?
even with 48,000 miles on the coilovers?

whiteline just came out with balljoints and tierod ends that change the geometry of the front suspension to drastically reduce understeer, and increase turn-in.

Check out thread called Jamals Blanket Suspension...
Lot of links to threads on the new part from Whiteline. Very exciting. Perhaps a new "first" suspension mod for our cars...
Cheers,

holy crap I need those ball joints!!! SO what do they adjust? Bump steer? I'm excited, I love whiteline!

no. There's not really any bumpsteer at all on our cars. They move the roll center up. That's good because the front RC hits the ground after an inch of bump (or lowering) and continues downward. A higher roll center means less body roll.
If you just put on the ball joints then you would have a bumpsteer problem but you get tie rods that compensate.

The new tie rods are longer too. i.e. "compensation"...
BTW, see this month's SubieSport for a not very comprehensive article on fixing up the front end with these. Never shows them installed or discusses the need for alignment afterward. Still word is getting out on them...

I just recently - last week - installed the whiteline RCA's. I needed new ball joints and had a bent tie-rod end. So far I absolutely love them. I am waiting to get a little more time on them before I post up a full review. I'll try to post a few pictures, they aren't much different than stock, the ball joints are just probably another 3/8" taller.
Installation is very straight forward. And you will need an alignment after installing them.

I've had the H&R coilovers for 2.5 years now. I think they are great. H&R did a fantastic job matching the dampeners to the spring rates. Plus, they use Bilstein dampeners, w00t. I had to have one rebuilt this winter, which was only $65. I was running them near max rideheight, which is bad for dampeners, so that is my suspicion as to why it started clunking. It never lost it dampening, just started making noise.
