Hello, my name is Lee and I have a problem...

Hi, my name is Lee and I am a Subaru addict....

With the recent acquisition of a rolled parts car (thanks Mike :)) I will now have two good cars, a parts car, and half of a 93'L in my garage in the form of parts.

This has thrown me into a feverish inner conflict. Have I stepped the line between enthusiast and addict? It makes perfect logical sense to me to have a spare NA motor for the OBW and a spare EJ22T w/trans for the SS. But perhaps my illusions of having a 350WHP AWD performance machine have scewed my logical reasoning abilities?

Am I so wrong to believe that this is a 'wise' investment?

My parents have been giving me a bit of guff (in mostly good humor) and I felt this issue would be best addressed with those that have experience with this particularly acute and debilitating disorder.

Thank you in advance for the support.

Keeps you out of bars right? Can't be a bad thing?

Sounds like a different purpose car than the others - cut the roof off, weld the doors shut, and tell them nothing beats a convertible on a nice day. Having all the same based car also allows for better storage and consolidation of spares. And it's all still cheaper than a new car. Perfectly logical.

Have you stepped a line? Nah, I don't think so. But then again, I'm high right now, so. . Yeah.

*bubbblebubblebubblebubbblle*

*coughcough*

Seriously, though. If you're still making rent and putting food on the table, or at least have enough money to fill your tank and get to work everyday. . . you're not an addict.

Maybe when you stepped back and looked at all the parts you got a little bit of a shock? I mean, you've got TWO of the same car, spares, parts, and maintenance items. Then you've got your build, right? Plus the tranny and related stuff. . It all adds up, it all takes up space!

If I were you, I'd be more worried about how to effectively store and organize the parts so as to ensure you have a wise investment.

In the end, though, you're the judge.

Stockpiling parts is something most of us do. Some more so than others. As long as space is not an issue, why worry about it.

I have a spare hood, hood scoop, turbo grille and rear deck with spoiler for the SS ( just in case someone hits me)

and that is just the little bits of exterior parts I have.

4 sets of wheels
2 extra seats
all the original calipers
etc etc.

We should have a club called "the junior Blackbart league"...

I have stock seats, steering wheel, assorted interior bits, and extra back seat rear bolster (for pickup trucking), a spare 3.9 rear end, bushings, brackets, pipes, snorkus, ...

Soon I'll have stock turboback exhaust, turbo, and radiator...

I can think of a good place to keep your set of RS 6spokes if they're taking up too much room in your garage, Drew.

Haha, thanks for the responses. It's always good to know you're not alone in the fight...

I like your idea Adam, I wonder how many cars the BBS collectively owns in just parts?

I need a garage or a bigger shed so I can join this stockpiling club, I don't have much more than a set of tires and misc fittings, maybe an intercooler.

Lee, you aren't an addict. Unless all these cars are parked in the front lawn... :)

I'm debating whether or not the old lady would be ok with me bringing home a 3rd non-running motor....

I don't have a freaking garage either which is pissing me off for sure. Luckly my kids like to sit on my stock seats in our living room...

We all have our own crosses to bear! <grin>

Cheer up! It's a great world that gave us Subaru!!

Just tell her you're using parts from the third to make one or both of the others run.

I personally own four subarus, one 93 impreza FWD(my ice skating car) One 91-5speed-turbo, one 91-auto-turbo, and one 92-5speed-turbo. I don't have a problem, I have a goal, a means, and a method. There is no addiction in that mix......

Maybe just a bit, but it's the boost that gets me.
