FS ID: '93 SS Swapped 5MT 242K needs work.

The story. I just don't have the time/resources to finish the car. I bought it from a middle aged lady who didn't want to fix a couple simple things with the car. After I drove it for a month or so I swapped in the 160k mile EJ22T and 5MT from my wrecked '91 SS.
That is when things started to go wrong. After the swap the car refused to idle right. It would rev to 2.5k rpm and then settle down after a bit. After another 3 months of driving it like this it started to leak oil pretty bad. Since I was in the market for a new car I decided to just put the original 242k mile EJ22T back into the car and sell it. While I was in there I replaced the clutch with a stock exedy unit.
When I went to fire it up after swapping the car immediatly revved to 4k rpm. After running for a few minutes it started to smoke really bad. I tried to figure things out, but just got fed up and ever since the car has been sitting. I started it every couple weeks and it would do the same stuff.
Long story short, I just want to get rid of it. I don't know why it smokes but I don't think its the motor because it runs so quiet and doesn't use any oil that I noticed. Could be as simple as the turbo.???
Make me an offer. It runs and drives, but the smoke and high idle are dangerous. I also have the 160k mile EJ22T available too. I am living in Alaska, but the car is in N. Idaho at my old house. I will be down there the first week or so in May. Otherwise one of my friends can help you out.

Hey Derek, post what you want out of the car and extra engine so people have an idea of what to offer.
And how the hell did you end up in AK?

Was this originally an auto trans car?
Hows the rest of the car, body, interior and such?

Woah, your selling it? Are you not heading back down this way? Northshore treating you pretty well?
For anyone interested - Derek's a great guy to deal with. Also take note that this car has the rear LSD diff.

Yes, it was originally a 4EAT. I should have just left it that way and made a quick buck

. Oh well. The exterior is straight except for one ding that could be popped out. The paint is faded on the hood and spoiler. The interior is in great condition. It just needs a manual shift surround or a shift boot made for it. The sunroof needs some attention. Right now it has some silicone on it and somehow when I was gone it got cracked. I have another one that will come with the car.
I was hoping for $800 for the car. Anything less and it would be worth it for me to part it. The extra motor is up in the air. If you want it make me a realistic offer. I might keep it for a different car.
Lee, you made a good point. I also swapped in the 3.9LSD rear from my '91. I will be coming down there eventually, but I don't want to keep storing it at my buddies place. Plus, I'm not really sure I want to have it for a project

. I'm looking at an e30 BMW or a two door impreza.
All in all, this is still a good start for a project. I would assume the high idle problem is just a sensor or electrical problem. Let me know if you want to look at it or if you have any questions. Thanks.

Emailed you, too...is this near me in CDA? I'd like to take a look @ it. Clear title?
What is the $ for the EJ22T alone? Any other turbo parts go w/it?
Thanks

like the project just what is the zip code where the car is at. would have to drive it homw to make it possible to buy the car.
talking about driving back to n.y. it would mostly be highway driving. question is would it make it. now I have driven truck with poor bakes, bad tranys and motors that were or should have been death.
that said I am interested, but must check milages, possibly of flying out and all that. how far are you from an airport.
my cousin's were/one still up in ak. fairbanks if I recall correctly. they loved it.
be well and waiting to hear back. bepa.

I don't think it would be worth it to drive it back. It would need some work before doing so, and I can't do it. If I had the time to fix it I would keep it. It is at zip code 83814. With the gas prices and a plane ticket you could just buy a good running car in N.Y.
good point

but I have a subaru bug in me. by chance do you know of any other SS owners in your area? at test I have had 2 or 3. usually I can change sensors and other items to see how well it works.
may be a long shot but send blackbart an e-mail and ask him if he could sugguest anything. I would be thinking the TB.
I have a used one, if you cover shipping I will look for it and you can have it. if it help your welcome to take it.
let me know. oh and you have a good point but man do I love these SS's.
oh I fix subaru's and help out veterans over here in the VA hospital. lot of the cars I get are for veterans. shit I usually do not start looking until I am ask by someone to help a returning veteran or family member.
I will check the ticket and milage. never know how it turns out.
be well, Bepa

I have quite a few spares as well. I parted out 2 other SS's, but like I said I just don't have the time to deal with the car. Thanks for the offer though.

it looks like I may be passing by you on way back from cali. got a call from brother in law. if it holds up I will be pulling a car on a trailer back from there to south carolina.
man do I have a list of friends who want in on this. driving cross country till I get to you. switch places with the cars. the one on the trailer is a runner.
put yours on trailer and drive rest of way home.
so for now it should only be a few weeks. if the car is gone so be it.
thanks for reading this. be well. bepa

OK.
I hate to see a good car go bad.
Since we were in the area, we decided to look at the car.
Not that we needed another subaru, but we went ahead and got the car.
It will have to stay in Spokane for a bit, but it will slowly make its way to Seattle to get checked out and given the thumbs up.
