I blew the motor...(Update... SHE LIVES!!!!)

So I was going up a hill today and I hit 5psi... it seemed to be spooling kinda slow so i gave it some more gas, and I came up to 10psi.
Then I heard a ting sound and it went away and as I looked in the rearview mirror I see a shitton of Blue smoke...
So I babied it the rest of the way home... watching the temp and boost guage constantly... The turbo was spooling quite slow... but still..
When I got home I popped the hood and oil was everywhere. There was especially a lot near the turbo...
Now it doesnt idle very well, it stumbles and misses...
Any ideas? Did the headgaskets go? Did I nuke the turbo? Did I f^&# up something else in the engine?
My IC install is no longer anywhere near top priority...

Its only oil? If its all over the place externally, that doesn't tell me that the motor is toast, but I don't know for sure. You have to do more investigation

did the turbo, oil cooler lines blow? my guess is that worse thing it could be is fucked turbo, cause oil could get into the exhaust and cause your blue smoke.

Just like when you're working on something and suddenly find blood all over your hand - to fix it, you must first find out where it's coming from (assuming that you can rule out it being someone else's blood). Did you blow the line going to the turbo? How much oil is in the crankcase? Is there any oil in the cylinders? Why do you think you blew a HG? Did it overheat? Is there oil in the coolant (chocolate milk)?

okay... so I kinda over reacted... My turbo just commited Hari Kari...
I blew the center seals...
I was thinking HG because there was white "smoke" coming out of the turbo area... AKA exhaust gases... thats all it was... and yea, there was oil all over everywhere...
I pulled teh shitty ass vf11 off my spare engine and am gonna install it tomorrow. Clean up is tonight
David (Mr. Rallitek mechanic) was like... "You either blew your turbo or your motor!"
So yeah... I just was getting excited over nutin...

No biggie. I tend to get underexcited, like when I ripped the threads out of my block

Good news/Bad news... at least it wasn't the motor!
Ready for that VF-12?

Well..................
I spoke too soon...
It was the motor.... AND the turbo....
The turbo was spewing oil and exhaust gas... and cylinder number 1 has lost all compression, and exhaust gas was coming out of the oil stalk.
Yeah, the motor and turbo both took a shit on me.
So today, after cleaning the spare turbo, removing the busted turbo, and installing the spare turbo, we discovered that... Then I began on the engine swap...
Its ready to be lifted out, then I have to put the clutch on the spare engine, and put the spare in the car and re-hook everything up... All by myself!
I may be able to get a friend to help... Andy was here today, but got really sick tonight and went home.
Thank god for spare ej22ts!!!
And Aerotech... I'm just gonna try and get it to run right now.

Probably the turbo went first then the car ran out of oil then burned out other crap. Sucks man, oh well swap it.

Maybe... she was only about a half quart low.
Yeah, now I'm swapin it right now... Trying to push the car up a hill by myself is a BITCH! haha... blisters on the feet from my shoes!

dude, im sorry.
think that check valve is a bad idea?
at least you still have that stroker engine to put in

Well... the stroker wasnt done... I dont have the pistons yet.
So I put the spare engine back together instead.
I pulled, replaced a shitton of parts that had been removed, then installed the engine... all today... by my self...
One friend was here for litterally 10 minutes and he just handed me a 17mm socket! hahahahaha
But yeah, I didnt immediately start it, I turned it over to get fluids moving, then plugged the spark plug wires in... and turned it over...
LIFE!!! She started in one try, Schweet!
but there is a CEL and it needs a good tune up and I think she'll be good.
So yeah, I'm totally stoked right now! I got it running! And all by myself!
I have to thank LC and Andy for the instruction though!

Ah no prob dude, you were sick!
Okay and Update
The headgaskets on the motor I put in are shot.
So out comes the engine... again... this time for a rebuild, or semi-rebuild.

Slow down man...do things methodically and try to think of future problems and take care of them while the engine is out...
It will save you a ton of frustration in the long-run

Well... my car went to my dealership so they could install my Group N motor mounts and take a look at the stumblign problem the motor was having.
And the diagnosis was that the head gaskets were leaking coolant into 3 of the cylinders and that they needed to be replaced.
So instead of dropping a shit load of cash to have them do it, I figured it would be a learning experience.
What else would you suggest doing while its out?
I'm not done with my stroker block.
And I'm uber low on money... So I was planning on replacing the mani gaskets, vacuum lines, head gaskets, not valve gaskets because they dont leak, and maybe exhaust gaskets.
What else?

Just buy a full top-end gasket kit on eGhey...They are like $50 and have most every gasket you could need.
But all of your ideas are good.

At least get the rear main seal!! Front main would be a good idea too, and the cam gear seals wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Timing belt, water pump, tensioner.

i would replace the valve cover gaskets while you have the heads off and seal them really good with some silicone goo.
and i second replacing the front seals too. ill let you barrow my 32mm socket. it works great at getting them in.

Wow... headgaskets are turning into a rebuild...
Oh and I pulled the head for cylinders 2 and 4...
No obvious damage so I'm assuming its blown piston rings.
I'm gonna sound like a tard... but where exactly are the front main seals?
Andy... I still have your impact gun and torque wrench... lol

Nah. Front main is right behind the crank pulley, the rear main is right in the back of the engine, right at the other end of the crank.
The cam seals are behind the cam gears.
