The specifications for both bulbs are the same except the brightness of the 2357 is rated at 40 vs 32 for the 1157. Get the 2357LL part because its filament is rated 5000/10000 vs 1200/5000 for the regular part.

They look identical from the outside. Many of the no name bulb produces actually build one bulb with both of these part numbers on the package.

I just spent 10$ to replace all my brake lamps with these. It's an easily noticeable improvement. I replaced both left lamps while leaving the right stock and had someone pump the brakes to verify.

I also replaced the rear turn signals with 1156LL which have more light (32 vs 24) and longer life (2000 vs 1200). They happen to be clear too.

The front turn signals on the pre facelift cars happen to be the same bulbs used in pinball machines!
