Has anyone trys to put a WRX or Japanese header to our Legacy turbo?
Will it fits directly? If it does, why don't we just buy it from Japan
and just install to make more HP????

I'm pretty sure Justin Brande installed one on his 2.2 before he
swapped the whole engine out. If i recall correctly, he claimed that
he felt a mild difference, probably due to better and smoother
exhaust flow.

When I had my EJ20 sitting here, but before I could put it in my car,
I put the exhaust manifolds and crossover pipe from it onto my car.
A quick visual comparison of the EJ20 and EJ22 exhaust manifolds
revealed that the EJ20 manifolds were a better design. It wasn't a
big difference, just that the exhaust from the individual cylinders
is kept separate longer with the EJ20 manifolds, and the bends are
smoother, fewer sudden turns. As far as a performance difference, I
did think I felt an improvement in power, particularly midrange,
though I have no proof. My EJ22 at that time was stock, so if you
have some good mods, including raised boost, I speculate that you may
benefit from the EJ20 manifolds. The problem is, the manifolds are
cast iron and therefore quite heavy, so the benefits may be
outweighed by the cost of having them shipped to the US. Hope that

Thanks Justin, but isn't it means, I don't have to do any modify to
fits the header to my 2.2 Legacy turbo? Since there is RHD car, the
header remain the same??
Since from some magz. some exhaust shop that made the hearder pipe for
WRX and if it fits then I think it will be a good way for the exhaust
system?
Am I right?

I'm sure he'll answer this...

But if i recall, it bolted right in after he got a replacement WRX
crossmember. I've considered doing this, but it's down the list on a
very loooong list of things i'd "like" to do...

No crossmember or any other modifications were needed to fit the EJ20
exhaust manifold. The turbo on all impreza's and single turbo
legacy's is on the same side, so there are no mods needed. Sport
Compact Car attempted to put OEM turbo exhaust manifolds on their non
turbo impreza once, and this did require a crossmember modification
to work. It's super easy for those of us with turbo cars!
