Where to mount the boost gauge

Hi guys,

I still haven't mounted my VDO boost gauge, simply cause I can't find
a good spot for it. So, need your help here, do you have any
suggestions where to put it? I've seen Dave's gauge mounted on the
steering column, and some japanes guy had in on the A-pillar, but I'm
still looking for the perfect spot...

cheers,

Miki aka Miguelito

I use a spare slot in the dash it looks amazing just like part of thr dash,
It was a spare square blanking slot I just hollowed out the middle with a
hot knife and pushed it inside the other very very convenient thing was the
cigerette lighter is right next to it, so u can not only draw the power from
here but because u draw the power from the green light surrount of the
cigerette lighter which is part of the dash lighting circuit so u can adjust
the brightness on the lighting stalk to give a very professional look.

I could probably take some pics if u like, bearing in mind my car is a right
hand drive which might be different to yours.

cheero (I really mean it LOL)

Unless you have a right hand drive Legacy its pretty
tough to place the gauge on the A-pillar due to the
drain for the sunroof going down that way, you
probably don't want to puncture that. But if yours is
a RHD then you could get the A-pillar mount from
Autometer I belive for the RHD Legacys (why they don't
make one for the LHD I will never know).
But I have mine, not vdo but Autometer, on the top of
the console right after the console begins to incline
to house the gauge cluster, housed in a Autometer
gauge pod (same one that Dave was using). It doesn't
look the greatest because its right there, but I have
seen some tricked out Honda drivers give it a second
look =). On the plus side though I never have a
problem seeing its display no matter what the steering
wheel is doing and I don't have to advert my eyes from
the road a great deal either.
Hope that made some sense, unfortunately I don't have
a pic of it yet.

Penty,

I thought of that spot also, but then I thought that it might be
difficult to read it when goin' really fast and the main thing to
watch is the road... I also thought that the steering wheel might
somewhat block the view, or am I wroing?

cheers,

Where to mount the boost gauge

Miguelito,
i also have my VDO gauge placed in that blank.
the steering wheel does obscure it a little. it all depends on your driving
position - where your seat and steering wheel height are set.
i can see mine quite well. the only part i cannot read is when it is above
24psi boost (never there anyway) or closer to the -22 vacuum.
regards, rod.
