Swap vs. New Car help...

I currently have a '01 Legacy GT and love it, my only issue is that i have 200,000 miles on it and it's definitely starting to run extra oil.

So with that in mind i am not sure weather to sell it and get what i can to put t'words something with less miles (00-02 WRX/RS) or just find a new motor and drop that in.

Along with a new engine I'm wondering how much more it would be just to go with a swap kit and run a WRX motor in it...(perhaps less cost efficient due to mounts and connecting, but able to be built on better?)

i guess I'm just looking for some suggestions or advise on what i should do or any other route.

*** IN MY OPINION ***

If the only thing wrong with your car is a little smoke I say hang onto it. When you buy a used car you seldom have any clue what your getting. Maybe the guys kid took the car out drag racing on the weekends. car was rolled then painted. Never had an oil change.

Or maybe just lots and lots of worn out stuff waiting to break.

Of course you could wind up with a good car. But i leave that gamble to you.

I say. Take care of the one you have. Love it and it will love you back. Put in a rebuild or swap in a lower mile engine (( I vote for the former )) and you have the same care you had. only better. Buy a different car and your rolling the dice.

If you can arrange to have a beater car, i say do a nice little build on that engine, a bigger turbo, injectors and get a piggyback ECU, this way you can maintain as close to plug and play as possible while being cost effective.

Or you could swap in a low mileage replacement motor on the cheap then rebuild the original into the monster it wants to be.
