Hello all, I am new to the boards and this is actually my first post. I am swapping a 91 Legacy turbo short block with JDM wrx heads, JECS maf sensor, and a three inch turbo back exhaust into my 93 Impreza. I will be using the Legacy's ecu and wiring harness. I am wanting to get a JDM td04 with the 90 degree inlet and some 440 injectors. My real question has to do with tuning the hybrid. I have some what read on the tunning of these ecus but am still learning. I am wondering if the Greddy E-Manage blue would be a good piggy back coupled with an EBC and a FCD. I am wanting to to know what everyones opion is on this setup. Thanks in advance.

Sounds to me like a great setup. I'm in the same boat, trying to get my EJ22T/EJ25 hybrid to run. I'm currently using an EJ22T ECU and it runs strong but gets bad gas mileage and only runs wastegate boost (8psi). The eManage blue would take care of the A/F and all vehicle engine functions and the EBC and FCD would take care of safe boost. Seems like a winning combo to me! Good luck!

I don't know a whole lot about piggy-backs as I've never run one. They can work, but they are tricky to make work well. How does the E-Manage control fuel? What kind of range does it have? What other controls can you implement with it? These are all important considerations when picking some form of engine management.


A friend of mine ran the MAF Translator Pro for quite some time, running a decent sized turbo (GT3076R). It did work, but it had its limitations. Don't think that an E-Manage will be the end-all-to-be-all of your engine management needs. You can make it work, but you will not have full control over everything. This can be an issue down the road. The SS ECU, although crude, has ways of working around your piggyback. If you don't have a wideband already, get one. They aren't very expensive, and running without one on a modified turbo engine is VERY VERY foolish.

93Foresterpearl, I am going to install a wideband, for tuning purposes, just forgot to put it into the post. I wasn't really wanting to have controll over every thing. All I am really looking for is a good streetable car that I can take to the track every once and a while.

I am by no means trying to sway you away from your decision to use an E-Manage. I just try to help people consider everything they have going on at the moment and where they see themselves in the future.
