Rear suspension interchange?

Just wondering, is it possible to swap rear struts between sedan/wagon and AWD/FWD?

There's a '92 AWD wagon around here at a pick n pull, and I might need some rear struts for my wife's 91 FWD sedan. I know there's spring perch differences, but I'll be using the complete strut/spring assembly anyways (her car's rear springs are sagging and I don't think they get any softer/lower than FWD L sedans). And I know AWDs can't use FWD rear struts, but can FWD use AWD struts?

The rear end will be severely sagging.

In general terms rear struts between AWD & FWD are not interchangable.

Okay, so I guess AWD's out. But FWD wagon struts fit FWD sedans, right? I remember reading somewhere that you have to stick with wagon/sedan whenever swapping struts, but then people seem to use Forester suspensions just fine. I think I'll chance it....

You should be fine swapping between wagon & sedan FWD rear struts.
