Help... Crank Pulley Stuck!

I've got a '92 with an EJ22 and I'm trying to change my water pump and timing belt and I've hit a snag. I was able to get the radiator and fan assy out, remove the acc belts and get the crank pulley bolt out by using the starter bump method I found on here but I cannot pull the crank pulley off. I've looked as close as I could and I don't see anything else holding it on but it simply wont budge! Like I said I got the bolt out already and I am at a loss, am I missing something or could it just be that stuck due to thermal contraction? Thanks in advance!

The pulley should come off w/the belts and bolt removed.

I'm not sure of the best way to remove it...search here and over @ USMB= http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/index.php

I've never had one stick (removed quite a few, too), so don't have any 'tricks'.

Good luck!

It should knock off with just a little more force than you can exert with your hand. If you can't get a puller then use a lever behind two opposite sides or a lever behind one side and tap gently as best you can on the other side. Don't try and force one side too hard or it will cock over and jam. A gentle rocking and wriggling motion wil usually get them off easily.

I got it off!! Thanks for the replies! At first it wouldn't even budge, if I moved it the whole car would move. Put a little PB Catalyst on it and removed the alternator to get a little more room behind it. Ended up covering it with a rag and smacking it with a hammer after soaking it. Thanks again

If this happens you can always use a pulley remover tool or slide hammer which you can get at Autozone and won't bend or warp the pulley.
