i know this is a obd1 web site for the most part but i was hoping for some help with my project. i have a 99 lgt and the head gaskets blew. i would like to replace the engine with a turbo engine. rather than just do a wrx swap i wanted to use the 2.2t block with all other wrx components so i can run the wrx ecu. has anyone here done this? am i going in the right direction? what kind of problems am i going to run into. i have been searching and asking around so even links would help out. i am trying to do this on a budget as always so. thanks again. i need the help

Go to NASIOC and read Stimpy's sticky at the top of the Conversions Forum under tech. Basically you will do this exactly like swapping an Ej205 into a GC chassis. The big difference will be that you will need to build your EJ22 hybrid engine first and then immediately get it tuned with ECUtek or open source tuning. There's really nothing majorly different of extra special difficult about it. You just need to be sure you've got all the right parts in advance and the wiring diagrams for both cars.

Fuji K on RS25.com has done that exact build on his Impreza.

If you check out the various 'USDM WRX swap' thread on Nasioc or rs25 (and others) I'm sure you'll have a pretty good idea of where you stand.

Are you the same one that posted this question on SLi?

Fuji's "Black Mamba" is pretty nice. He's a local up here. Garage Tuning did a nice job with his harness, albeit being a bit expensive. He is actually parting out a bunch of it, including the harness http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30245

Just be careful of your headgasket thickness with the 22T shortblock.
