Seat base swap?

So I posted a while ago about the lack of legroom in my 93 L AWD wagon. I have seats that do not have the height adjustment, but recently sat in some at the junkyard that do, and was very pleasantly surprised at the difference. Does anyone know if I can keep my seat I have and swap the adjustable base onto it?

Hmm, I don't think so... I had my seats apart completely when putting on the leather upholstery, once the cushions were off, I was left with a frame with a pan welded to it, and the height adjuster was integral to the frame, as far as I remember.

If you want to keep your existing upholstery, you can transfer everything to the adjustable frames, since the adjuster is below the upholstery line. The seat back should just swap directly without any major disassembly, but you'll have to take the fabric off of the bottom section to get the foam off the pan. Clip off the metal hog rings, remove the fabric & foam, and then re-attach to the adjustable frame, you can use nylon zip-ties in place of the hog rings. Then re-attach the seat back (4 screws), and bolt back into the car. Should take you a couple of hours.
