Quick bumper question

Looking at swapping a turbo bumper on to my 93 wagon, is it easiest to just have the guy I'm buying it from unbolt the bumper and supports from his parts car, or do the supports and cover come off separately? Anything else I need to know? Yes, they are both post-facelift cars, so no problem there.

Thanks

You do not need the bumper beam, so I'd avoid taking unless you have to. The bumper cover itself is a bit more work, as you have to take the clips out of the top and bottom sides. Either way you go about it, you need to unbolt from the fenders from under the fender liners.

I know we talked about this on the phone yesterday but I thought others might like to know.

Taking just the bumper cover off requires the turn signals and headlights to be out first. When removing a bumper from a car with the lights (and grille for that matter) in, you need to take the cover and re-bar off together. The bolts that hold the re-bar on are located on the tops of the frame rails (under the hood). The heads are 17mm and they are fine thread so be careful not to cross-thread when putting them back in (common mistake).

What are you calling the re-bar?

The bumper reinforcement, aka big metal beam behind the cover.
