Legacy strut fitment? Outback lift?

I have a '90 AWD L Wagon, I need struts (mine provide no damping).
What are my options? Can I fit pretty much any Legacy struts (other than 2wd)?
And if I got some 95-99 Outback (found a deal on KYBs) struts would I be rewarded with a an inch or two of lift?

If so, time to replace some balding low-pro tires with a set of knobby high-pros claws.

Thanks,
Stephen

Yes, most of the AWD struts should work, and yes the outback struts will give you a slight lift.

I have the same year car and put OB struts all around. They bolt on EXCEPT the rear top hats didn't fit..I ghetto'd it and drilled a new hole, or swap tops. On the front, mark the upper bolt's position (it's oval for alignment), put it back exactly and you may not need an alignment (but I'd still get it checked).

You'll get a lift and can run 205/75R-14 on the stock wheels, which are almost the same as the OB's 205/70R-15's. They'll likely rub @ full steering lock.
