The heater core is not fun to get to. You'll need to remove most of the dash to get to it. I suggest you grab a screwdrive and start getting screws out.
How sure are you the heater core is bad?

I will second that. Officially my most hated thing to do on a car. You spend so much time on your back in weird positions crunched under the dash with a flashlight unscrewing things. God I hate it.
Definately be sure it's bad before undergoing this task. I once removed the entire dash (necessary to get to heatercore) and took it out. Pressure tested it with a compressor on low PSI(maybe 10psi?) and there was no leak whatsoever. But I knew it was leaking because you could smell it when you turn the heater on. Convinced I was crazy or something, I put it back in and put the whole dash back in. Turned the car on and flipped the heater switch to high and a cloud of green mist instantly filled the car.
Then I got to enjoy doing it all over again. I was ready to pull my hair out. I bought a new heatercore, which was like $175 I think. Put it in and it never leaked again.
But yeah, your fingers will hurt when you're done and probably be all cut up. You'll probably be cursing like a sailor the whole time. And your back will need chiropractic help afterwards.
I'm not sure what to tell you to make it easier except, take the front seats out so you have some more room. Plus drop the steering wheel by unbolting the column to remove the dash. You do not need to remove the actual wheel.

Agreed, the heatercore replacement is a total PITA!
here is my thread and a
bunch of pictures I snapped along the way for my replacement.
Good luck!
