How do these cars hold up at the track?

I am very tempted to show up at the local track meets, but I would be very embarrased if my STOCK car dies or starts leaking everything. What do you guys think will happen? What have you guys encountered on the track. I have done alot of oil seals, and hoses, and did alot of work cooling wise (new rad, hoses, pump), did my timing belt, idlers. Did a full tuneup. I do not see any leaks below. Will I go there have a good time then go home having to rebuild my motor. Also my car is auto, I am thinking I will just make sure it stays in power mode, or just manually shift. Just interested in your experience using your SS at the track!

Also I do my fluids often and all my oils will be synthetic except tranny oil just has additive which stabilizes viscosity (i guess semi synthetic? ) and I need to put my synthetic diff fluids in. Also replaced my front axle today with new (well a few month old) FWD axles that have that better boot design.

As long as it's in decent running condition you shouldn't have any issues. Plenty of people race them.

I took my Leggy to the track, it's auto as well. Did the power mode mod, that helped it a lot (don't try to manually shift it... the transmission won't like that). Just be sure you've got decent tires and aren't afraid of a little body roll. These things rotate pretty well, and the torque of the turbo gets them out of corners nicely. You'll have a lot of fun, and I sincerely doubt you'll break anything. Good luck!

Exactly what I wanted to hear! How many miles are on your car? I am running wrx suspension the car is SO much more planted then before, and I have brand new tires. Going for alignment this week.

I need to wire up a switch for the power light. I have just developed a routine to just tap the pedal fast to force power mode.

The power mode mod will help a lot. Plus left foot braking in an auto comes naturally.

Really good tires and some good suspension mods will make a huge difference. While our cars are 200 lbs heavier than a Impreza RS, the right set-up and the turbo can put you in good company.

I've got only 65k on the car, but I'm running stock... well, pretty much everything. Your WRX suspension should make things fun!

It was my grandma's friend's car, and then my grandmother's. When I bought it from her last July, it only had 52k on it. Pretty amazing! I'm fortunately (or unfortunately) making up for lost time... I love this car!

these cars are limited by tire size, you can make power and fit a good suspension, but weighing 3200lbs these things need some meats but they just wont fit...

otherwise they are solid. McPherson strut design is sturdy enough for rally action and the chassis is uhhh... relatively stiff when compared to a horse and buggy. One thing I do have to applaud is the seat belts and the safeness of the chassis, my brother in law smacked a k-wall virtually head on at around 55mph and walked away with a sore neck and some seat belt bruises. pretty good for 16yr old seat belts.

oh and the manual transmissions dont like being shifted very fast, especially if its got some miles on it.... goodbye syncros

Just driving around town I hate how my car feels so not planted. Although probably has alot more to do with the fact that I put wrx front struts, and left bouncy rear suspension and still did go for alignment haha.

haha! How is the ride with STi suspension? When you hit a bump, does it feel like you are riding on rims with no tires?
