front end noise......?

So I have this weird, not-quite click, not quite thunk noise in the front end of my car, it happens when hitting bumps on the driver side, and I can also get it if I hit the brakes at a decent speed. How would I tell if it is the ball joint, sway bar etc? Just had a new hub and wheel bearing on that side, so I know that is not the culprit. Also, I'm about to drive 2000 miles home to Michigan from Arizona, should I be worried about this? There is no shaking or alignment problem associated with it.
Thanks

ball joints: lift the car up put your hand on the top and bottom of the tire, push back forth if there is any movement it wis ball joints.

tie rods: (dout this is it but) do the same thing you did with ball joints but pust the tire on the left and right side.

end links: set the car on the gound and rock the car back and forth by push in the sid of the car if you here a cluck then it is porb end links. i dont know if this works for swaybar mounts too?

Would probably also suggest ball joints.

sounds weird but could be your struts. have you done any strut work lately. i spent money on new sterring rack, ball joints, and outer tie rods to get a similar noice to go away and after all that came to the conclusion that when i put my struts in myself i must not of tightend it all the way. it has been safe to drive on it for the past 2 years but it is very annoying sometimes.
