PS pump retrofitting using pipe from Mazda Tribute PS pump

While reading this thread about retrofitting a Legacy power steering pump to allow for an under-intake-manifold turbo inlet, I remembered the Mazda Tribute power steering pump I had swiped out of my dealership's warranty scrap bin a while ago.

Although it mounts on the engine quite differently...

... we can see that the overall design is about the same.

Both manufacturers likely bought their PS pumps from the same supplier.

Anyway, that Tribute PS pump has a remote reservoir, and as we can see, has a return pipe on the top of it.

Since the designs are the same, that pipe fits right onto the Legacy PS pump.

Now you will have to cut that pipe down for the turbo inlet to clear it. But that's all you have to do. Bolts right on, O-ring matches up perfectly, no welding.

The Mazda part number for that pipe is EC07-32-5M0 and it lists for $34.13. It is used on 2001-2004 Mazda Tribute V6 models. Logic suggests that it is also used on similar Ford Escape models, but I don't have the Ford part number handy.

So if you don't have welding skills or access, or don't want to cut up your original PS pump reservoir, this is another option for you.
