Optional Performance Timing Belt?

Since the Legacy will soon become my only vehicle, I figured it was time to change the timing belt on it. 2.2L EJ22 N/A of course.

I've always had good luck and performance from Goodyear Gatorback belts. Looked them up for the subie at Autozone. They list too belts.

40254 is Optional Performance. 211 teeth 1.188 top Width and 66.500 effective length.

40172 is the other Gatorback. 211 teeth. 1.188 top Width and 66.438 effective length.

So 40172 is obviously slightly shorter by about .060.

Which is the correct belt for my 2.2L? Or is the longer belt somehow related to something I read in a previous thread about a longer life CA emissions Timing Belt?

Hmmm, the only thing I can think of is that maybe it's designed a bit shorter so that when you get it on the car and it begins to stretch over time, it'll stretch out to what it's supposed to be at, instead of being a bit to large.

I honestly have no idea, I'm just pulling ideas out of my ass lol.
