Ok this may sound totally crazy BUT!

Is it at all possible to create a 3.0L beast out of the EJ22T?

I have been using a online calc. to figure out what sizes you need and they dont seem too large. But hey. What do i know!!

So what is the largest engine one can make with a EJ22T block??
And when i mean biggest i mean biggest before it becomes not reliable.

Here is the link to the calc. i was using.

Im not going to do this to my car because of cost but, it would be dam cool to know if you could have a 3.0L 4 BANGER!!

I know the Bore and stroke for the EJ22T 96.9 by 75mm

And yes i didnt figure out the Comp ratio for the motor because of missing values that i dont know what they are to be? Any help there would be cool.

Thanks People!

We had a 3.0l 4 banger in my parents bluewater boat.

Those would be big pistons thrown back and forth a long distance. You'd also probably run into cooling issues and block and cylinder wall strength. I would think that would be in the unreliable realm. Look at the problems Subaru had with the 2.5. Subaru does make a 3.0l 6.

A boat application wouldn't be as bad, even though it's an inline, due to mostly steady engine speeds, lower rpm, lower expected life time between rebuilds, and constant cool water source.

Hmmm. So you might run into a cooling issue... Thats no good.

I still like the idea of a large EJ22T tho.

Aswell the 2.5L suck! Well at least the gen 1 2.5L

Well I do have a buddy with a crazy built 03 wrx with a overbored sti engine in it. Its been overbored 20 thou i think. So that makes it a 2.65L? not sure tho.

Not even close. Using the STi crank, you need a 102mm bore to have a 2.65L. A .020 over STi block is at 100mm, up from 99.5mm. No, you cannot hog the cylinders out more than that.

If you really want more displacement than 2.65 liters, (which costs north of $5k in parts and machine work), just get an EZ30R. 6 cylinder engines are smoother anyways.

Ok. At least i got a straight answer. O well i now know that it wont work...
