Is this MAF any good?

I was at the junkyard browsing what little subaru selection they have left these days and stumbled across what I thought was a JECS MAF in a 94 impreza and didn't have any tools on me so I bought the whole airbox setup. $26. The extra plastic parts were only 5 bucks or so and I was thinking maybe I could get it to fit in my car with my silicone intake. We'll see.
When I got home I took a better look at it and saw that it's not a JECS MAF but some brand called Autecs.
Is this any better than ours or will it even work on my car? Should I just toss it? The connector is the same.

JECS and Autecs are the same AFAIK.

Thanks! I checked the picture of the Autecs one in the other thread and in fact they are the same part number.
So people selling them for $45 on here are ripping people off or junkyards elsewhere are more expensive because these can be had at the local junkyard for $20.

You can use that MAF if you get the Revtronix chip, otherwise you'll get a CEL for incorrect MAF on the stock ECU.

Yeah, I just got it in case I get the revtronix chip down the road. Won't have to pay $45 on here and wait for someone to ship it.

$20 from JY and $25 to pull it + clean it + test it seems a fair price for the service to those that do not have a JY near them or prefer not to get dirty.
I still have an untested theory that a stock ECU (w/wire clip for CEL) + JECS MAF + 440cc injectors will make a good combo. One day I'll actually get to testing it.

While it might 'work', it won't really be right, since the JECS/Autec reports different/higher airflow (g/sec) for the same 0-5V range than the ECU is expecting.

Kimo, A quick tangent.....since it may be relevant.

I did this test and it ran lean - 14-15 AFR IIRC - so I only did one 'pull' onto the freeway.
Here's what I wrote to Mike @ Revtronix back in May '09 when I was fighting another
issue:
For 'grins' I hooked up the JECS MAF (grounded the blue wire) and went back out w/the stock ECU and 440's. Still had 14 AFR @ Idle, but in 2nd gear runs, it stayed right @ 14 AFR...when the boost dropped to 0, it came a bit earlier, around 4k-4.5K RPM and the AFR went up to 16....NOT safe, I know, so I'm done 'playing'.
I was running my FCD and MBC - NOT the Rev chip (stock ECU) - and I don't know how many 'learning' miles the ECU had on it, so given time maybe the stock ECU could figure it out?

Interesting....
Now I wonder about JECS + STI 550cc or 480cc yellow-tops?

Even in my cars current broken ECU state, I've data logged up to 80% injector duty cycle for my 440cc @ 14 PSI w/TD05. Thinking the 480cc would be the better way to go with this turbo.

I'm with you on that BSOD. I was actually thinking about getting some 550cc injectors and getting my Rev chip reflashed for 550cc injectors. It seems like you and I are really getting close to 100% DC on the injectors and it'd be nice to have some extra cc's for a safety margin and so we don't have to run close to 100% DC on our injectors.
