im trying to get my car smogged and they wont check it unless the CEL light is off, i checked the codes to see what was really going on. Im getting 22( knock sensor ) 23 ( airflow sensor ) 24 ( air control valve ) 35 ( purge control valve ). keep in mind I have swapped to the TD04, TMIC, 3" turbo back, Walbro fuel pump. what can i do?

having those aftermarket upgrades shouldn't cause those codes -- dozens of us have that with CEL free issues.
Reset the ECU and then see what codes back.
knock sensor - check the wiring and that the sensor isnt cracked.
airflow aka MAF - make sure its plugged in, try cleaning with maf cleaner, etc

thats what i thought, but maybe there just shot out anyway, ill get them replaced eventually. Clean the IAC and just replace the knock sensor. But for right now i just took the dash apart and took the bulb out that lights up the check engine spot. problem solved

My feeling exactly!!
Problem turned out to be the purge solenoid, just that, not the other things. Curious how it would cause all three codes.
Just lucky I guess.

Ditto. The purge solenoid tends to cause other codes not to go away. Replace it.

On an na engine it is. just get a fairly long extension with a 10mm and reach in from behind. I don't know about a turboed one though.

yeah it was the same thing minus i had to use a swival joint to get to the sensor. finished replacing it and the CEL light went off, but sporadically comes on and off. Any ideas as to why it would be doing that?

Good work!

Do an all clear and then pull your codes again and see what is in there.

i did the battery dance last night after the CEL periodically came off and on, and pretty much got the same codes as before. The one that doesnt really make much sense in the code 49 improper air flow sensor? So im at a loss at what to do next. I can try and do the green connector clear but im sure the codes will just come back. Would a knock sensor continue to cause problems like this?

Use the black & green connectors together to clear the codes.
I've got the exact procedure on my site.

is the car running crappy? If your MAF is screwed, it definately shouldn't be running "normal". Mine was bad on my last SS and I replaced it and it helped ALOT

my car never really runs crappy, the occasional momentary funky idle but thats it. I just got a new knock sensor and ill replace that and see what happens. Is there a difference between the EJ22T MAF and the N/A MAF?

The wiring for the knock sensor may be quesionable. I found this out when wiring the car for my Link ECU.
There is a difference between the black JECS MAF & the silver Hitachi MAF found on the turbo cars.
