washing my block?

i don't have a alum. parts washer and i have a messy block. i don't want to sound dumb but can i just powerwash the block? no parts in it just block with poo poo on it

lol haha, just get some engine degreaser spray it on, let it sit, then get a brush and scrub, then you can powerwash or rinse!

I do exactly the same. When I'm finished I towel dry the bores, main bearings, and mating surfaces. I then use a light oil (motor oil, WD40, etc.) on those surfaces to prevent corrosion.
The only thing that will rust in short order is the cylinder bores, but doing all the machined surfaces makes me feel better should it end up sittting for a long time.

Easy Off oven cleaner will remove any carbon and grease in very short order.
