After a 4 year slumber inside our shop the rally car is up and running/driving again as of today.

It's been sitting so long we rebuilt the engine and I had the transmission and rear end rebuilt as well as a bunch of other things like replacing the clutch so I know it's good to go. After all the boost leak/smoke tests and visual inspection etc. etc. I put it on the road to get some miles on it.
I just took it out and actually boosted it for the first time. I seem to have one auxiliary light bulb out, and an exhaust leak, but other than that the car is happily its usual self. I forgot how much fun this thing is.
I haven't decided what I'm going to do with it yet, but it was too much of a shame to let it sit any longer. I'll see if I can post some pics and/or video at some point soon...maybe when I put it on our dyno to test it.

It's getting new ball joints and then we'll put the front control arm guards back on. I need to put the rescue/safety gear back in the trunk and a few other things. It's almost ready for action.

Safety triangles and spare back in the trunk.
Terratrip intercom system repaired and operational.
All underbody protection is back on.
And it's snowing heavily so we'll put some snow tires on. Hopefully later I'll have time to go out and play in it.

Hah. Unfortunately it didn't last. By the time I finished things up at the shop it was around 7:30 pm and I headed south to the seasonal use dirt/gravel roads with one of the guys from my shop. We gave the car a gentle test. 5-7 psi and I didn't push it. It's been a long time since I've driven that car anywhere near its limit.
I just set the boost back to 9 psi now that everything has checked out OK. If there's time I'll test it on the dyno later today just for fun.
The rear anti roll bar I had installed for tarmac use needs to come back off. It doesn't need it to remain neutral on dirt/gravel or snow. It helps on low speed hairpins, but I can take the higher speed sections faster without it.

I just ran it on the dyno. It picked up about 30 whp and torque from raising the boost to 9 psi which is a huge percentage gain considering the low power output on these cars.
I graphed it against an Impreza RS so there's a point of reference for our dyno. As another one, stock 04+ STIs make 195-200 whp here.
Full boost at 2200-2300 RPM LOL
