So on a full charge my Legacy will start up just fine. but as the days and weeks go on it becomes more and more difficult to start. the ignition will just click and click and click and then finally start. after about a month or two of that the battery will completely die on me.

is it the alternator?

or some other wiring issue?

Go get your alternator tested at an autoparts store for free. Autozone and Advance Auto parts both check.

If not that, then there's a short in the wires somewhere that's killing the battery.

Just get the alternator tested first.

You don't have a amplifier hard wired to the battery do you?

No? Then I would check current through the alternator at rest. Might be shorted diodes in the voltage regulator.
