I Sell Kits for 3" Downpipes

About a year ago, when I installed my bigger turbo, I was horrified to see how restrictive and turbulent my stock downpipe was. I saw a nice compromise between the stock setup and something that separates the wastegate stream for a couple of feet. I designed a flange that allows a much less disruptive flow from the wastegate and it accepts a slightly squashed piece of 3" mandrel bent pipe. When I had my flange made by a plasma arc cutting shop, I had them make ten of them. I bought two swaged pieces of 3" 90 degree mandrel bent pipe through JC Whitney Catalog and welded a high temp metric nut onto the top one to accept the O2 sensor. The stock O2 sensor protrudes unnecessarily deep into the downpipe and it is nice to space that back a bit to reduce turbulence. I also bought 3" 3-hole flanges so that one can easily unbolt the custom downpipe and bolt the stock setup back up for vehicle inspection or when selling the car. I wrapped my entire downpipe with ceramic header tape to help keep my underhood and my intercooler as cool as possible. I don't have any horsepower figures and I did this in conjunction with a bigger turbo, but I believe that my downpipe made a big difference. With a 3" pipe all the way and a stubby straight-through bullet glasspak muffler (back box) with nothing less than 3" opening all the way, my car is probably too loud for most folks, but I love how quickly it hits that rev limiter.

I think I am down to my last two flanges, but if there are enough of you who want them, I will have ten more built. They are $25 (US) including shipping anyywhere in the US or Canada.

Bill, note me for one of these. I know it's illegal, but the stock
exhaust on these things is just a joke.

P.S. How are the Iridiums? I'm considering a set myself.

Funny you guys have your o2 sensor in the downpipe?
Mine is before the downpipe, I have a cat heat sensor in the downpipe?? which is not plugged in cause there is no cat...

Dave-I`m also running the Iridiums-noticed a smoother idle & a little help @ the top end. Until I hook up my MSD unit, I won`t realize their true potential. I`ll get back to everyone once I know. ROD (somewhere in No. Az.)
