Strange buzzing noise kills battery and seatbelts don't work

I bought a 90 L 5spd wagon a couple years ago. Long story short it sat for a couple years and continues to sit. No longer belongs to me because I sold it and then the buyer never put it into his name and got impounded and it came back to us and my parents paid the bill and now have the car again.

After sitting for so long it now makes a strange buzzing noise, not sure where it's coming from but any time the key is not in the ignition it will make this noise. Until you put the key in and turn it to ACC or start. This kills the battery if you remove the keys and leave the car sitting.

The auto seat belts do not work up front. It also says on the gauges that the rear doors are open but they aren't.

My mom wants to get rid of the car bad. I figure no one will buy it with these problems present.

During that time that it sat (before I sold it) the fuel pump went out. It was going out when I got it I just didn't know what it was. Car would not start unless you give it gas while starting. After sitting for 2 years it wouldn't start at all. Put a junkyard fuel pump in it and it ran great.

Sounds like some critters may have been chewing on wiring, and you may have a short some where.

Damnit, I was hoping that wasn't it. It did sit in a field for 2 years.

If that's it, I'm not going to bother with it. I was hoping maybe it was the seat belt relay or something lol.

Do you think I could part it out and get $500 for it? Just a gold 5spd AWD L wagon in decent shape that ran good and just needed a new clutch (I think the clutch was ok but the throw-out bearing was toast).

I know you could if I had $500!

lol well get $500 then haha. I think she just wants to at least recover the towing fees. The guy who bought it got a blow out in one of his tires. It got towed and he had never put it in his name even after a few months of owning it so we had to pay the fees or my step dad wouldn't be able to renew his license. The title was missing the section that we're supposed to send in to release ownership so it was still in our name.

My mom wants it gone and she needs money bad.

You can most certainly part out a vehicle and make $500 off of it.

try unplugging the 2 pin connector near the ignition or the seatbelt computer. that should kill the buzzing.

as for the doors try replacing the pins

I'll check out my manuals to find this seatbelt computer you speak of.

I wonder if the junkyard takes cars with no motor or trans. I really don't want to part it out though. That means I would be the one doing all the work and it's not my car anymore. Also, my car is currently on jackstands taking up the whole garage so there's nowhere to work on it.

Best deal would be to fix the seatbelt problem and sell the car.

Here's some pictures of it when I bought it for rougly $1,000 after tax and license with a bad throw-out bearing and failing fuel pump.

Lost over $600 on that deal. Never again.

May be a little dirtier on the outside then it was in these pictures but a wash would fix it right up. It's in decent shape. I just wish it didn't have the electrical problems. Mechanical is easy, electrical sucks.

Wow, Kimo, that wagon looks clean! It'd be a shame to part it out. But by the pics, I'm sure you could get more than $500 parting it out.

That being said, if you decide to part it out, I'm interested in the rubber guard/step on the rear bumper.

Unfortunately that's paint, not a rubber step. Some previous owner decided to mask that off and paint it. And they also thought it looked good with a chrome V8 badge on the rear hatch which i promptly removed upon purchasing it. And for some odd reason they painted a black rectangle on the hatch where the V8 badge was located...

It was very clean when I got it because it was from a used car dealer. I'm sure with a quick vacuum and wash of the outside it would still be pretty clean.

Not sure if I mentioned it but the tires are pretty bald and one blew out so it's in need of new tires pretty bad. Maybe someone has a set of cheap used tires for stock wheels?

Don't care if there's not a ton of tread, just driveable and matching sizes.

So, it's paint, eh? I was wondering about that when I was looking at the pics. Thanks for letting me know.

I got to thinking about your ignition situation. Is it possible that your ignition switch has gone bad?

I may be interested in some of the interior bits. The tan interior is not very common!

if the back doors show open on teh dash then the switches aren't making inthe lock mechiunisms, or they have been disconnected someplace.

i'll give you $300 (conter offer??) as is, as long as you have the title and it will start and run.... Been looking for a clean 5 speed AWD wagon to replace my currrent White wagon.
