hello all,
am looking for a standalone ecu. i've read a few options out there for our cars through search here. but not many of them went very far.
plug and play is important as i would like to have this installed relatively easily.
i've dwindled it down to two standalone options: autronics and the hydra nemesis.
any suggestions welcomed. thanks.

If you want something user friendly, I'd stay away from the Hydra. Actually, I'd run away.
Link can do plug and play setups, if you want. I haven't looked into the Autronic setups, so I don't know about those.

To be quite honest.....if you want easy....stand alones are not the way to go.
With that being said. John, kleinkid has an Autronic plug in board. He seems happy with it. In my opinion though it is lacking on aux. outputs.
Myself and Dan are running Link's. I'm currently running a G4 extreme. (Upgraded a LinkPlus G3 to G4 firmware)
Link's hardware is very good, and the G4 software only continues to get better. There will be a PCLink update within the next couple months that is supposed to make the interface much more user friendly.
My suggestion would be to try and find a used LinkPlus G3 and pay $120 or so to upgrade to the G4 firmware. The only thing you do not get by doing this is a few additional aux outputs and ethrottle control.

Where in northern california?
Fine Line Imports in Santa Rosa is a Link distributor and their tuner has very good relations with Link's programmer. He's very knowledgable on the Link ECU's and how to set them up. That is very important when it comes time to tune the car.
They're the ones who tuned my car this third go around. I'll be posting dyno numbers hopefully this weekend if I get time. Overall I'm very happy with the numbers that were put down.

Cool.
Talk with Miles. He's the tuner there. If you want, mention to him that I suggested you talk with them.
I'd suggest calling or emailing.
Let us know what you decide on doing.

it is looking like the hydra.
i am not going to be tuning or messing with the car and will have someone tune it.
now, if i can only confirm this with the tuning shop that he's good with the hydra.....i should call him up before i place that order.
