so i installed the chip and i have the cable. i also downloaded the revscan form the revtronix web site. but when i plug it in to the computer and the car it still says disconnected. what am i doing wrong?

::EDIT::turns out i had a bad usb port on my computer. now it is all fine.

I know that the chip has to learn what is going on but my car is not drivable. it wants to act like a anti lag system. i know that the cam timing is correct. the spark advance seems really high...50. it doesnt' like 2nd gear. only 1st. and it seems like when there is ANY load it start popping and then want to die. sounds like a giant piece of shit. is that normal? there are no error codes.

1) Does windows see the usb device as a COM port in device manager?
2) Did revscan work on the stock ecu?

windows does see the device

and no it did not work on the stock ecu.

I just rebuilt the engine, i pulled the ecu out of the car and installed the chip before i put the engine back in. i just today tried to connect the cable to the car but it said disconnected in the bottom right. do i need to connect any other wires to get it to connect? right now all i did was plug it into the car, and into the computer

Well if it didn't work with the stock ECU (it will too), then what makes you think it'll magically work when the chip is in?

Did you click on the connect icon in revscan?

Did the car run perfectly with the stock components before you upgraded?

What parts did you upgrade that require the chip?

I've found that the chip will expose any flaws in the parts you might have, due to running things closer to the margins. vacuum leaks, boost leaks, crappy flowing injector/fuel rails, etc.

this is not what I wanted to hear

Is this the chip level 1 or 2 or the new chip ? I'm wondering because I was going to run the new chip for my ej22t/2.5 sohc build.

you could always try another chip, but im thinking something may not be right with your build. you should put the stock injectors and maf back on anyway until the engine is broken in.
be sure all your pcv lines are correct, vacuum lines ect. ect
