so im curious, is there anything about the ej22t pistons that are special? are they made from a better material than other subaru pistons? are these notorious for breaking ringlands at all? i just had my ej22t pistons cryo treated to strengthen them even more....

Most importantly they are made to allow the compression ratio needed for boost.

well i already figured that but would like to feel confident that these will hold 21 psi

But honestly Im pretty sure others have pushed them that far or more,as long as tuning is good, thats the key.

If NO detonation.... Yes...
Bad det? No ringlands....

21 psi from what? You can make 21 psi from a TD04, or 21 psi from a 40R. They are worlds apart apart in airflow, which is what actually matters.
The 22T pistons are windowed, FYI. Keep them to less that 300 whp with excellent tuning, and you'll have a cushion.

welll these are in my h6, so the 21psi will be distrubeted over 6 pistons from a turbo off a 2001 dodge cummins.

No cigar, doesnt actually work that way unfortunately. The number of pistons does not give you any extra room for error.

Haha, blame perrin then. What I was referring to was Perrin talking about HP/cylinder when compared to smaller 4cyl's, the margin of safety, etc etc (under "Dyno Time!")

" Think of this build as WHP per cylinders. 600WHP on the H6 is 100WHP per cylinder. 100WHP per cylinder on a 4 cylinder is 400WHP, which many consider and have proven to be safe (with non-forged piston engine). To get 600WHP on a 4 Cylinder you will be at 150WHP per cylinder. That is 50% more stress, and pressure. If we use the example of a forged piston, stock sleeved STI motor, holding almost 600WHP (150WHP per cylinder), the H6 would be good for at least 900WHP."

Alright, you need to start over. First and foremost, you need to state a power goal. If you don't you are wasting a lot of time and money.
Why do I say that? Every decision you make depends on that.
Just because the shortblock can "handle" a certain amount of power does not mean the rest of your car can. Fuel delivery does not change it's requirements based on the number of cylinders. Neither does engine management. Nor does the clutch and transmission.
So, before you go any further, you really should put your goals down on paper. It will simplify soooooooo many things in the end, trust me.

well 400whp is my goal but if it is higher than great...
