Knock sensor indicator light mod, anybody done this?

So I was wondering if there was anyway to hook some sort led or something to one of the knock sensor wires.
The goal would be for the light to light up when knock is detected.
I have heard of some vehicles sensors sending different signals such as a voltage or a frequency. I am not sure what subaru uses.
Thanks

Subaru knock sensors are the non resonant, or flat response type, which relies on signal processing to determine if there is any valid knocking or not. A few have hooked up a 'knock lite', while the Rob-tune flashes the CEL if the internal circuitry detects any knocking.

So what your saying is The light may go on all the time even if the knock signal is not valid enough for the ecu to want to pull timing. It would probly mess with the signal too im assuming.
Thanks for the response

You can't just hook into the knock sensor. The light would have to be after the signal processing like BSOD2600 mentioned, and I'm not sure how that can be done with the stock ECU.

You would need your own signal processor to flash a light. That is why we have products like the Knockblock and Knocklight, etc.
If you were handy with assembly language programming and could build a decent analogue to digital converter, it could be done for cheap. Otherwise $120 for the TurboXS Knocklight isn't too bad.
