What car/year is TD05-16g turbo on?

I need to know what model and year the TD05-16g turbo comes on. I think it's a forester turbo but maybe WRX too? I just found out while installing the turbo on my car that the WRX coolant pipes aren't spaced far enough apart to line up with the coolant holes on the side of the TD05. I was going to cut the middle part out and separate them but I noticed the bolt holes are a larger diameter so the coolant pipes won't fit and the bolts I have are too small. I need to buy the proper size coolant piping and and bolts with gaskets and probably the oil line, bolt and gaskets for this turbo.

You need to cut the middle tab part, and buy a step bit to drill the fitting to accept the larger banjo bolts.

Look at the pictures at the bottom of page 1 and a few on the top of page 2 where I modified the stock vf11 coolant pipes. (Unfortunately my old camera takes crappy close up pictures...sorry)

Nice, I figured that out searching NASIOC in this thread:

Do you know what size the banjo bolts are supposed to be? Where can they be bought with the gaskets?

I'm not sure on the banjo bolt size. They came with the turbo.

They are probably metric threads, so I'd try some different metric bolts to figure out the bolt size and thread pitch. Once you know that, you should be able to search online for or a local hardware store for the correct banjo bolts. Any copper or aluminum washer/gasket that is sized for that bolt should work.

Alright, thanks. I'll go to town, I want them now and I need to buy the step bit anyway. I think my step dad has step bit somewhere. <--- that kind of sounded funny.

Thanks CJ. That would save me from buying the bit but would cause me to have to wait another week. Damn. Meanwhile I guess I could wire up my gauges, install my other fender brace and find some wiper hose so I can complete my wiper reservoir relocation and put my driver side fender back on.

I was about to buy the kit CJ found but then decided not to. The coolant pipes are not the correct length so I would need to redo the hoses that go to them and buy some sort of heat wrap for the bottom one because it will have to now run right below the center of the turbo. Actually it's got a heat blanket so maybe that won't be an issue but I still don't want to run new hoses.

Then I found a braided SS coolant kit with the coolant hoses alone and they were longer so they probably would have worked but they're $60 shipped and I wanted that braided SS oil line because it would make installing and removing the turbo a lot easier without having to bend the hard line out of the way.

So I decided it would be much cheaper and I could get it done much quicker by just buying the step bit and banjo bolts in town tomorrow or the next day.

Thanks CJ, I now know the banjo bolt size.

Note to anyone trying to find the M14x1.5mm banjo bolts for the turbo coolant pipes. Don't bother trying to find any in any kind of store. I just did that and ran all over tumwater and olympia and that was a complete waste of time in 90 degree whether sweatin my ass off for nothing.

NAPA
Autozone
Cut Rate Auto Parts
Industrial Hydraulics
Capital Industrial Tool
Valley Nut and Bolt
Tacoma Screw

None of the above places carry anything larger than a M10 oil/brake line size banjo bolt. Subaru doesn't stock them either. Now I have to order that kit off ebay and redo my coolant hoses. Fun. At least it comes with the braided SS oil line which makes for an easier turbo install/removal.

You should give PIA a call, they might have one.
Were any of those places able to make a SS clutch line for you?

Never asked them. I don't know what length I need nor what size threads on the slave end or what size banjo on the master end.

Hey Kimo- I know it's a little late, but if you search "Xavier Subaru TD05H" on Ebay you will get a Subaru specific bolt and pipe kit.

Just joined the forum. Ironically my buddies and I were just talking about the mighty TD05-16g turbo. It was installed on the 2.0 liter Subaru's, but it was also installed stock on the Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX and GST. Even-though the trim is the same size the Mitsubishi used a ball bearing ( i think) but the Subaru's are "full floating" turbos. Hope it helped.

Cool. I though it's a newer forester turbo. The guy I bought my coilovers from had an 04ish forester and he said that's the turbo that's on his car and I took a look at it and it looked exactly like mine.
