Was wondering how much fab is necessary to put an sti exhaust on my car...
Are there any available exhasuts for my car that just bolt right on or does one have to be fabbed?

I think at this point no-one stocks completely bolt-on catbacks. You'll need to rotate the flange and move a couple of hangers, no big deal for a muffler shop.

congrats on the new car. spend atleast a month searching this forum for eveything that can be done to these cars. alot of stuff fits, alot has to fabbed up.

as for exhaust. the muffler fits, mid-pipe needs to be extended.

that's my goal, full 3" to a stock sti muffler for silence, but im going to run 3" all the way to the muffler with a reducer

Im looking to keep my car pretty sleeper... I just installed a 04 wrx tmic and it gave it pretty good power gains! STI Exhaust is definitely my next investment.

What's wrong with quiet? I don't like giving the pigs another excuse to harass me and loud exhausts get annoying on long trips.

^^^so true, im going ewg with sti muffler. itll be loud when I want it to be loud. no need to give the police a reason to pull me over. the reason i have this car is to be low key, not stand out. for those that know these cars, know there rare. i dont need to advertise it.

Just wondering what you paid for your car, there is a guy on here that is fighting his insurance on the same vehicle.

I paid 1600 for her and have loved every minute since (minus the part where I snapped a ball joint in the mountains 2 hours from where I live in Denver). Right now my only mod is a top mount intercooler which gave it significant gains. Got a question for anyone who knows stuff about our down pipes. A friend told me you could remove the stock down pipe, clear it out with like a screw driver or something (taking one of the two cats out) with the result of making it sound better and possibly some reasonable horse power gains. Have any of you done that and had good results?

as far as i know, it's not possible to gut the cat in the down pipe without cutting the downpipe open. it's between 2 bends.

You can gut the cat in the midpipe tho, doesn't free up any sound in my opinion

I have a full 3" aftermarket exhaust that was on an 05 WRX and all it needed to fit was about a 6" in-line extensior and all waas good from there. I just had a muffler shop do it, should be fairly cheap

if you have a full exhaust to the sti muffler though they sound really raspy muffled and crappy

i know the hks high-power exhaust for the 02-07 (or so) exhaust fits perfect hangers match up and everything im going to get one when i get the money

lucas you should post up a vid of your stromung exhaust, I've heard it sounds sick, but never heard it
