Yeah, this is an interesting article....it talks primarily about the SVX 3.3 liter motor. Not sure if the 4 cyl motors have the same issues.

I'm very interested to know how this relates to the EJ engines. I regularly took my engine to 7,500 rpms and it never overheated according to the dummy gauge.

How do you know whether your radiator is crossflow or not? Also how would you go about moving your thermostat to the top hose and modifying the cover on the water pump larger for more flow? Would that all have to be custom fabbed or is there a company that sells those parts?

Crossflow is flow moving from side-to-side (which is what we have) vs. top to bottom.

As for moving the thermostat, you'd have to do some custom work to get that done. I really don't know if this is a big issue on the 4-cyl EJ motors. I've never had an issue, and I am not bashful about revving into the higher rpms.

So I wouldn't get too freaked out about this article. To really do some testing like he did, you'd need to put vacuum and/or temp gauges down in the area by the thermostat.
