possible idle problems question

like everyone else it seems like, I have crappy idle. Especially when pushing on the brake and the clutch and sometimes not even that. I have an idea tell me if im wrong.

its been a few years sense ive bought a new battery and its now starting to look old and foam at the mouth so to speak, and im quite sure the alternator is the stock unit.

My question is will having an old battery cause some idle problems by not providing enough moxy, while also working with an old alternator?

Or could it possibly be that im due for a timing belt and its just stretched out enough to cause that?

thanks, luke.

Welcome to the Crap Idle Club! As for your issue, I'd definitely recommend a battery change(especially if you don't know/can't remember the last time it was replaced) Have the alternator output checked(most auto-parts stores will check it for free) and check the vacuum line coming off of your brake booster for leaks. Good luck, these rough-idle issues can be real pains in the butt!
