EJ22 running on EJ22T ECU ?

I picked up a non-running '93 TW last Nov. Somewhere along the way, a N/A 2.2 was swapped in. It was on craigslist twice, 2 different owners, both telling the same lies about it. Anyway, I put in a turbo ecu I had and got it running in Dec. After replacing the VSS on the tranny, it seems to run a little better, but there's still something wacky going on with it. Idle jumps around from @200 to 2000 revs, unless I hold it above 1000. It drives ok, but seems to be underpowered. No CEL at the moment. I've cleaned the IAC and checked for vac. leaks. I wonder if there's any reason I shouldn't be running the N/A on a turbo ecu. The eventual plan is to drop a JDM 2.0 turbo and 5MT in, but I figured I'd drive it as is for a bit. I've done some reading and searching but am just looking for a yes or no on the current setup.

Ok....just for my clarification. There is a non-turbo engine (without the turbo and other goodies) in a turbo car?

The ECU wiring for the crank & cam sensors is reversed between the non-turbo & turbo cars. So depending on what was done with the wiring, technically, you should not be able to run one off the other ECU. If they did not swap the crank & cam sensors around when they did the engine swap then the non-turbo ECU shouldn't even fire up the engine.

Does the check engine light come on when the key is in the "ON" position, but engine not running? If not, then they probably snipped the wire or took the bulb out. Sounds like you may have some issues to sort through.

Any additional information you can provide would help in diagnosing problems.
