Hi guys new addition here to legacy board. I have a 1992 subaru legacy L wagon the blower motor operates on all speeds except high. I would appreciate any thoughts on the matter as I live in the southern U.S. and summer is on the way. Thanks in advance?

Thanks for the reply yesterday I replaced the blower speed switch with another off a parts car I have still the same result blower works on all speeds except high (4). Also swapped relay and resistor to no avail. I guess the speed switch could have been bad in the parts car as well but it seems odd to me. Any more thoughts? Thanks again

unless the motor itself has an issue, altho that doesn't seem too likely.... either way see if you can check your motor out. If it is the problem, i have 2 extras in my shed i'd be willing to sell one for 10 bucks + shipping :)

Nope motor is not the problem jumped blower motor to ground and high speed works fine. Thanks anyway Im always looking for other parts though. Mostly interior trim since my parts car has grey and mine is tan. If you run across anything like that I might be interested.

ok so i found my thread and it did not answer the question we are looking for as i thought it did. i am currently having the same problem right now too. if i recal it is the resistor that will give you the 4th speed so you might want to look into getting one of those. i will try to confirm this on my car.

having the same exact problem. I was going to research it this next week during break....i'll chime in here once i get into it. I think its one of two things. wiring going into the switch or switch itself...I think its wiring cause mine went out right after i pulled some old wiring out of that area.

Typically it's the other way around, if the resistor pack is bad, you will not get the blower fan to work on speeds 1-3, but it will work on speed 4 since that is straight 12v.

However, I'd start by checking the resistor pack on the evap box.
