water in hood scoop

I have removed the sheet metal funnel under the hood scoop in order
to make room for my air-air intercooler. I have noticed when I go
through the car wash it sputters until things dry out.Does anyone
else with an air-air intercooler have this problem? Does it happen in
the rain? It hasn't rained here since the installation(alot of snow
though),and I am a little concerned about having this problem during
a rainy commute.Any ideas? Thanks, BillC
