Need help with door lock actuator install

I got everything all wired up and hooked up for my keyless entry, but my actuator doesn't move enough in either direction to trigger the power locks for the other doors. I've tried adjusting the position of the rod so the actuator would be further in/out and I just can't get it to work right, it takes 3-4 pushes to trigger it if it does it at all. I also tried changing the settings on the keyless to trigger longer, 3.5s vs .8s, and it seems to go the same distance but it's just powered for a longer time, really just did nothing.
Any ideas what I could change to make this work? The actuator was from Best Buy, the ones they use on power lock installs, and the keyless is a Viper 5101.

What I would suggest doing is removing the actuator and measure the travel of the actuator arm. I would think some are adjustable, while others are not adjustable. Once you have the distance the actuator arm travels when "free", lock and unlock the doors and measure the travel of the rod where you had the actuator hooked up.
Your actuator should have as much if not a little more travel than the locking mechanism rod.
Also, where do you have the actuator mounted? Any chance you could snap a pic or two.

Hmm, I'll have to see if this one is adjustable. It travels plenty far, but the signal itself doesn't give enough travel.
I'm gonna change out my door handles for some painted ones, so I'll snap a pic when I get around to that.

I looked at the manual available at Viper's site

I don't see anything in there about changing the pulse length. You may want to talk with a car stereo installer shop to see if they have an installers manual that may give you an option to prolong the opening pulse going to the actuator. They may also have another suggestion. Car Toys did the install of my alarm while I lived up there and they did a pretty decent job. If they sell Viper products and you've got one near by with competent people, might be worth stopping by. I think Best Buy also sells Viper alarms and they may be able to provide you with an installers manual.
