Hi All

i am a new member from dar es salaam tanzania...and i wish to hear from others with advice regarding the following...i have two 94 GT legacy wagons and i just love them..however the road conditions in Tanz dont allow for ultimate satisfaction except the national roads which are usually a danger..so i am going to take my scooby>s and turn them into Dune/bush/sandmaster buggies with raised suspension etc etc ... basically discarding the bodies and building a pipe car style machine...CAN ANYBODY GIVE ME COMMENTS ADVICE OR PLANS IF DONE B4...????

I moved your through to the Misc. forum as it's probably better suited here. As for your project, are you planning to build these buggies from scratch or do you plan build them like another design? Are they going to be front or rear mounted engines? Do you plan to keep the AWD/existing transmission? Depending on the amount of wheel travel you are wanting, you may need different CV axles.

Bottom line is that if you're building these from scratch, there's A LOT of details that need to be taken into account before building. If you can find an existing setup or kit that you can use to drop the motors into, that will likely save you a bit of money and time.

How aggressive of off-road driving are you looking to be able to do? I have taken my wagon off road a number of times and can drive through many areas without difficulty as long as the terrain isn't full of large rocks or to sharp of peaks on hills. Have you considered replacing the stock strut assemblies with those from a 2nd generation Outback or 1st gen Forester? There is a few people that have done so with taller tires and have had about 10 inches of ground clearance, just an idea, you could still drive the car around and maintain a lot of functionality...
