Would you buy?

I am new to turbo legacy's but not to subarus. I am looking at a 92 turbo sedan with almost 200k on the clock. It is a bit rusty in areas but looks to be in pretty good shape. The seller wants 1800$ which felt high to me but is open to offers. So...would you buy this? If so, for how much? My honest plans are to use it as a daily driver until I feel like swapping one of my imprezas. It seams that running ej22t's go for around $600 so it might be worth it just for the motor and time I use it for DD. Thanks!

Welcome to the BBS.

With that kind of miles that's way too much, $500 - $700 would probably be a more reasonable offer. What area of the country do you live in?

500-700? You know he's talking about the whole car right?

I'd say it depends on what you mean by "rusty in areas," do you have any pics of it?

Maybe I'm spoiled here in California, but I wouldn't pay for a car with any rust on a non-bolt-on part.

Maybe if it was solid mechanically and I was going to do a re-shell?

Well, a beater Legacy would be a lot of fun too, but 1800 is a bit high if there's excessive rust. If there's just surface rust here and there then it's no biggie.

Any rust means hell no imo. Give him $800. I can get a rust free one round here for $1200.

I payed 900 the seller was asking 1800 you just have to know how to talk nice to the seller and point out the bad things, that worked for me!

Well he disapeared on me for a while but texted me today about selling the car in a month or so. He wants 1k for it now. The rust is worse than I thought on the rocker panels. I am more used to the rear quarter rust where it is also rusted bad. To be honest the body is probably too far gone so I'm wondering if I should pull the drivetrain and part out the rest of the car. I think I can recoup a good amount of the purchase price going this route...your thoughts?
