dead sunroof advice sought

After a year of intermittent operation that required a sharp tap rearwards on
the leading edge while pressing the switch to get my sunroof to close, looks
like it's finally given up on me. Never had any trouble opening, just
closing. Finally had to crank it shut with the allen wrench. Took lots of
pressure and lots of turns to wind shut, but it was smooth, no sticking.
Feels like all that pressure must have been 100:1 gear ratio, and I assume I
was plugged right into the motor right above the access hole in the center of
the roof. Anyway, has anyone else had to deal with this problem? What
hassle am I looking at? Also, has anybody heard there is a one time free
dealer fix for the rubber strip around the sunroof which seems to be
defective and permit leakage during hard rain? Sssoon
