Hi all

i'm putting in a new set of bushings on my rear swaybar and of course the
Haynes manual doesn't cover 1st gen .

what i'm trying to find out is how much (preload ?) is put on the links as
you tighten the up. on my car now 1, the left side, is flapping and
rattleing and the other has some weight on it (preload?)

how do i know how tight to do up the lower bolt of the link, i assume this
is where the weight (dpreload?) is added.

can someone with a manual have a quick look and tell me what the torques
should be. It seems pretty straight forward other than that)

When I did mine, I just tightened up everything snug....but of course not over tightened. There really is no preload that should be on it. It really sounds like your bar is bent or something is messed up. Because the bar limits body sway or is suppose to help counter act those forces.

What I would do is remove the bolts holding on the drop links from the rear A-arm, then remove the bolts connecting the bar to the links or just remove the clamps that hold the bar to the frame. Jack the rear of the car up, and wiggle the bar out. I would definitely check stuff out right now, because you should have equal distribution of the sway bar's loading. You may need to replace something more than the bushings

Are you replacing the endlinks or the bushings?

I don't understand what you mean by "preload". You should be
replacing these with either the car on the ground, or with the full
weight of the rear on bricks or something.

I'll look for the torque specs, but when i replaced my front and
rear, i just tightened them down tight, but not as tight as i could.
I'm rather strong.

yeah no such probs when i fitted my whitline 20mm rear bar

the 91 turbos sedans came with a 19mm bar, they only put them on 1 year .... i think?

My 93 Wagon has a 19mm front and 18mm rear stock.

I've got a 21mm CUSCO rear on it's way.

Oh yeah, these D2 coilovers are incredible!
