Can anyone tell me what this actually does? Because I noticed it was unhooked and hanging on one side, so I took it off. I think I still have it laying around. From what i've seen the purpose is to limit the extra play in the clutch fork for a tighter feel? Is it safe to keep it off? Here is an image from Kimo's Legacy but I couldn't find a solid answer within those posts

It adds a positive feel to the clutch pedal, and returns the fork to the home position faster than the hydraulics would. So marginally less clutch disk wear over time?

It probably also keeps the throwout bearing from dragging against the pressure plate while the clutch is engaged.
So I'd put it back on to keep from wearing out your throwout bearing too fast.

Wouldn't returning the fork require the spring go in the other direction? Its pulling the fork the same direction the slave cylinder pushes it to disengauge the clutch. I think its only there to keep it from rattling.

It's there to keep the clutch fork play to a minimum and may help with rattling...

you know, i've been hearing some rattling and I bet you this is the culprit. I couldn't figure out where it's coming from, sounded like the top hat to the front left was maybe coming loose, but it wasn't. Where can I get another spring? the dealer? cause this looks like a special fitting spring.

I have a brand new one but I'm holding onto it in case I lose mine again. I ordered one and found mine before it came.
