WRX Intercooler

Bill, I have an intercooler from a '96 WRX that I am fitting to my '92. A
'bolt-on' it ain't ! The '95 or '96 and later WRX used a twin inlet
intercooler which makes plumbing from the turbo to intercooler a bit more
difficult. My cure for this one is to build a new end tank. Or, you could
just cover the twin inlets (which are on the underside of the unit) and add
a new inlet to the end of the existing tank. The second problem is that the
stock location of the outlet will move the unit too far over and cause
interferance with the coolant tank and access problems with the clutch
master cylinder. My cure for this is to relocate the outlet to shift the
unit over towards the passenger side of the car. The third problem area is
the blow-off valve location will interfear with the throttle body linkage,
cure - relocate. And last but not least, it clearance is very tight at the
firewall, which in my case will be cured with the above mentioned steps.

So why go to all the trouble to use it? SIZE, it is quite a bit larger than
the earlier units and we all know what that means...........and the fact I
only paid $135 for it :)
