91 Legacy L new owner's questions

Hi-just some ideas for you- a squeal from the brakes means 1 of 3 things: accumulated brake dust, `squealer(s)` on the o/s of brake pad (if so equipped) is warning that brake pads are low & lastly, possible metal-to-metal on brakes; inspect them ALL ASAP! Shaking thru the gears may or may not be the trans-check CV joints/axles/boots to see if a problem is there. You may have the earlier 4eat that had some problems-drop the pan & inspect for metal before you flush the trans (I had an earlier trans & had to replace it). It`s possible your tires had`nt been rotated for awhile & have taken a `set` from the frt axle (wear on edges from turning/driving most of the time, etc.) Sometimes this is transferred thru in either noise or vibration. If you`re not sure, check with a local tire store you trust for some help. As for the back seat, ther`s a strap that has fallen under the seat in the center-reach under & feel for a loop of material & pull up-the bottom cushion will come up & the rest will be obvious.-good luck-ROD - AZ.

Subject: [BC-BFLegacyWorks] 91 Legacy L new owner’s questions

Hi,

I just bought a 91 Legacy L with 120k on it. There are some
questions I would like to ask for advices:

1. Each time when I press the brake pedal slightly, one rear break
squeals. But if I press further, it will be ok. Does it mean I need
to change the brake pad?

2. The car always shakes when it runs from first gear to 2nd gear and
2nd to 3rd. It is auto trans. I plan to flush the transmission
fluid and change to synthetic blend. Will it be helpful?

3. I always hear some deep noise from the rear axle when I reverse
the car or drive it at low speed. Actually it occurs after I asked a
garage to rotated the tires. What the possible reason to explain it?

I plan to do the job by myself this weekend. Any suggestion?
BTW, can I fold down the rear seat back? I could not find the strap,
neither the lock. :-(

Thanks in advance.
