What is better, an early style WRX air-to-air intercooler (the black one that sits at an angle) being fed throuugh a WRX type hood scoop, or a Liberty RS air-water intercooler being fed through that skinny litle hood scoop?

The plastic pipe on my WRX intercooler has always been problematic. It is kind of special, with that triangular inlet flange etc. Has anyone ever heard of anyone modifying those by giving them dual air inlets that use conventional round hose?

PS. that skinny little hood scoop only directs air onto the turbocharger itself, it's not an intercooler feeder.

[Brett..] do a water to air with a larger pump and radiator , up front

[Brett..] replace it with an alloy / silicone unit, we supply them as a common upgrade

I removed my air to air after doing some temp measurments and went
with the Subaru liberty water to air and it has been worth the
expense. I have a transmission oil cooler up front and a good pump
and
have brought the temp down considerably. I think the problem with the
air to air is the fact that it picks up a lot of heat from the engine
there is a person on the subaru vanagon board that has a line on the
water to air intercoolers. Let me know and I will get his address for
you.

Ok the peson I was refering to is on message #2762 we are both
wondering what the two wires on the top of the water to air
intercooler are for. I installed mine and haven't had time to get
back
to investigate these wires.
