I have a 93 touring wagon with a jdm ej20g. Not too long ago i noticed my car was sounding different and maybe only running on 3 cylinders? It starts to shake when the rpms start to go back down after starting. I drove it around a bit and i noticed when it accelerates it knocks. This is quite scary and im just wondering what could be wrong with it.

How loud is the knock? It could be anything from hydraulic lifters ticking to rod knock...

Ok heres the deal. One day i started my car up and it ran perfectly and it hasnt done anything since. What could this be? Could the timing have been off?

The knock your talking about may have been lifters? They can tick pretty loud and be mistaken as a slight knock and can come and go. A rod knock will never go away or fix itself. Does the car still shake?

Accidently put some 87/89 octane gas in it? My Touring Wagon got filled with 89 once and it knocked/shook quite a bit. Problem was gone as soon as it got filled with 93 again.

the problem does sound alot like how you decribed with the shaking and knocking and then after revving it goes sub-500 rpm......

could this be caused by a bad ecu because im trying to figure out whether i should get a robtune ecu or not because 380 is a bit much if its not going to fix anything.

I doubt the ECU just went bad. Get the car running good before you do any modifications or tunes.

Is the issue still happening? or did you say that it went away..
