4eat question, probably a silly one.

Something I noticed when doing the auto to auto swap in my friends wagon was that the fwd trans looked a lot like an awd trans with a plate bolted in place of the rear drive components. So my question is, could I swap the rear drive components on to a fwd trans to keep my awd?

I have not taken one apart before, but I believe there are some additional differences inside the trans that may prevent you just from swapping on the rear drive components.

My gut instinct says it should work, since the AWD cars still have a direct mechanical drive to the front wheels and it makes sense from a production standpoint to localize the differences in the tail sections. Only way to know for sure is open it and see though.
